What do I do first?
Once you have accessed Discovery For Credit by entering your e-mail address and password, click on your course title (for example, Discover D.C., Science , etc.). This will take you to your course’s main page.
You must first take the Pre-Test – this is a 20-question multiple choice quiz to help you assess your knowledge base and does NOT count towards your final grade.

How do I complete my coursework?

  • Each course has six investigation topics. Once you have taken your Pre-Test, a “ready” appears in the “status” column of your topic menu. Click on the “ready” link that corresponds with the topic you want to begin with. Topics may be completed in any order, but all must be completed to receive credit.” .
  • Once you have selected your topic, take the Check for Understanding Quiz. This ten-question quiz serves as a practice quiz that will NOT count towards your grade, and can be taken as many times as desired. Questions rotate, so taking the quiz more than once can be a benefit.
  • Next, click on the Investigations links to access websites pertaining to your topic, as well as your Learning Log. Your Learning Log must be completed during the course of your research in order to go on to the Final Topic Quiz. The Learning Log allows your supervisor to monitor your progress, and will help keep track of your notes and observations. It will serve as your “timeclock” which will document the amount of time you have researched each subject category. Click here to see a sample Learning Log.
  • Once you have researched all your Investigation Sessions and filled in all your Learning Logs, you are ready to take the Final Topic Quiz. This quiz consists of questions from the Topic Pre-Test, Check for Understanding Quiz, and new questions not yet seen. This quiz WILL count towards your grade. Once this quiz is complete, you will go to the next subject category.
  • Once you have completed all of the subject categories, you are ready to take the Final Course Examination. This is the cumulative test that will incorporate questions from all of the previous pre-tests and quizzes, along with brand new questions. This test will count towards your final grade and concludes your Discovery For Credit course.

Note: While you may do the rest of your coursework prior to your trip, the Final Course Examination will not be available until after your trip

If I’m not happy with my final grade, is there extra course work I can complete to improve my grade?
Yes – there are optional assignments students can complete to raise their grade. Each assignment is worth 10 points and must be submitted to the Webmaster by e-mail or U.S. mail. The optional assignment topics can be found by clicking on “What is Discovery for Credit” on the Discovery for Credit main page, and then by clicking on your course (either Discover DC or Florida Science).”

How do I receive my credit?
Upon completion of this course with a passing grade, an official WorldStrides transcript will be mailed to your home address. Please allow four to six weeks to receive your transcript.
