Special Projects
A special project is an optional activity and each one earns ten additional points toward your final grade. They require more personal involvement in the research since specific web sites are not identified. Part of the task is to locate and assess the appropriateness of web resources. The suggested topics for selection as Special Projects are:

• Compare and contrast Lincoln’s assasination with John F. Kennedy’s.
• Compare and contrast Abraham Lincoln and Franklin D. Roosevelt.
• Compare and contrast Thomas Jefferson and Abraham Lincoln.
• Compare and contrast John F. Kennedy and Franklin D. Roosevelt.
• Compare and contrast Colonial America and America today.
• Create a PowerPoint presentation, HyperStudio slide show, Kid PIX slide show, or website summarizing the information learned on your trip and through your research.

Do not limit yourself to the above suggestions. Any topic connected to the content that is of interest to you may be studied. You may complete no more than two special projects for this course. Send these to the Webmaster by e-mail or U.S. mail.

Students will have the control to examine the web-links as they so choose, but web-links and guidelines will be provided to help students complete their research. The websites used by WorldStrides have been screened for appropriateness, content, and for fun.

The Learning Log is the student's online notebook. It will keep track of the time spent researching each subject, as well as writing down notes, observations and thoughts. Click here to see a sample Learning Log entry. It is estimated that each subject category will take a few hours to complete.
